The central province of Quang Binh in coordination with Vietnam Helicopter Corporation on April 24 launched helicopter tours of heritage sites and other tourist destinations in the locality.
The first two maiden flights carried provincial leaders and 10 journalists from Dong Hoi City on a one hour tour of Quang Binh attractions were successfully conducted.
The service will enable tourists to watch UNESCO-recognised natural heritage site Phong Nha Ke Bang from height. It will also provide emergency aid for those who enjoy adventure tours of Son Doong, En and Tu Lan caves.
The Northern Vietnam Helicopter Company is currently conducting a number of pilot flights from April 20 to May 5 to serve tourists.
Under the agreement, VHC will organize helicopter tours to world heritage site Phong Nha – Ke Bang national park, En cave and Son Doong cave in Bo Trach district, Tu Lan cave in Minh Hoa district and Vung Chua – Dao Yen in Quang Trach district where General Vo Nguyen Giap is resting in peace.
VHC will also offer helicopter medical services for those on adventure tours to Son Doong cave in Bo Trach district.
Earlier, the company made fact-finding tours of places which helicopters can land on.
Quang Binh’s tourism has developed strongly in recent years. It has launched different kinds of tours, including sea tours, spiritual tours, tours of Phong Nha-Ke Bang and tours of caves.
Quang Binh boasts more than 300 caves, including renowned Thien Duong, Phong Nha, and Son Doong.
